The Cuban Revolution Told by the People

The Cuban Revolution Told by the People

Three characters… each representing a different time… the time before the revolution, during it and the times now, narrated by each character’s personal experience. The Cuban Revolution Told by the People is a series that seeks to understand Cuba not through historians, but through the simple look and voice of those who truly know it… the people who live there and who were impacted by the movement, for better or for worse.

Senior Aurélio, of roughly 85 years of age, lover of salsa, living witness to Cuba before the Revolution, under the rule of Fulgencio Batista, draws a panorama of the island during the time of Ernest Hemingway, casinos, parties, life before 1959 and the events that preceded the Revolution…

Alberto, a student in his sixties, with no time for music, actively participated in the movements that deposed Batista, describes what happened on the island with the arrival of the Granma boat until now, with the successes, disappointments… the variables that the movement took, and the impact on people’s hopes…

Finally, Eduardo, a young graffiti artist, reader of blogger Yoani Sanchez and heavy web user up to where freedom of access of information will allow, lover of both salsa and U2, whose cousin lives in Miami.

The Cuban Revolution Told by the People is a portrait of Cuba through its real roots… the conventional island inhabitant, with their day-to-day lives, with an acid and objective speech, as hard as it may seem.
